Nice pilot for one of the best animated TV shows of the last 22 years

I love AMERICAN DAD and reviewed more than 20 episodes (especially the ones with famous actors in them). And a while ago I had the chance of finally seeing where it all started.

Steve has the hots for Lisa Silver (voiced by Carmen Electra) but he is seen as a loser. So Stan tries his best for helping him. At first he buys a dog, but he is mangy and after only one day even dies. Second, they go to a mall and Stan has the brilliant idea of robbing a purse from a woman so that Steve has to stop him, but Stan is much faster and he ends smashing one of the mall's windows and run. So Stan has the final solution; rigging the votes for the school presidents' elections so that Steve becomes school president. At first this works, and Lisa finally falls for Steve and they go out for a few dates. But after a while the power goes over Steve's head and it becomes too self-centered, and after a while Lisa will leave him. It will require only Stan's help for making Steve go normal again.

It was a very good start of show. The animation, while rough, is still pretty and colorful and some of the situations (including the ones aforementioned) were very funny. A must see in the show.

Quite an odd start

Warning: Spoilers
I like how Rodger manipulated Hayley to get those treats and, didn't even hold up his side of the bargain with doing that paper.

There was a little bit of gross out with Rodger.

What a jerk!

I don't like how the family just puts up with Rodger acting the craziest, Stan should've like complained to the CIA to get Rodger removed or something.

It was kind of fun having Steve board himself up in the principals office and go mad with school president power.

This wasn't funny to me but, it came off as quite odd and interesting.

Hilarious!

I didn't know what to expect from American Dad, but it's certainly quite funny. I thought this would be a ripoff of Family Guy, but this show uses a different brand of humor. It doesn't make fun of pop culture, but uses humor to create zany situations. I like how they make Stan over-the-top and way too caring about the CIA.

This pilot episode is about Stan and his wackiness. He uses his power to get his son, Steve voted in as class president. But as president, Steve goes above and beyond with his power.

There were many hilarious moments in this show. I liked the confrontation between God and George W. Bush. I think the alien and the German goldfish are quite funny.

Overall, this is a hilarious start to a surprisingly funny series. I truly like this kind of humor. I rate this episode 9/10.

Hugely underrated

I was not excited at all for American Dad, thinking it's just going to be a bad version of Family Guy.

It's not!!! Very very funny and even funnier than Family Guy, a total different kind of humor. Surprisingly hilarious pilot honestly.

The Pilot...

Newspaper Headline: "Democratic Party Missing: Feared Dead" One of my absolute favorite episodes of American Dad! I love it very much. In this episode we meet the Smith Family. Stan works for the CIA. Francine is the stay at home housewife. Steve is their teenaged son. Haley is their hippy-ish daughter. Klaus is a goldfish, who speaks, who has the brain of a Germain skier. And Roger is the drunk alien who lives in the attic. In this episode we find out a lot about the family. Stan helps Steve get the attention of a cheerleader by rigging the school election. When he wins, Steve goes mad with power. And Francine cuts off Roger's junk food supply. But Roger comes up with a plan to get his sweet treats back. He does Haley's college papers in exchange for all his goodies. One of my favorite quotes in the episode is when Francine is throwing out all of Roger's junk food - Roger: "You know, we can't all look like those anorexic aliens in the James Cameron movies, Francine." I just think it's so funny. Another one is when Stan accidentally kills Steve's dog - Roger: "Holy Toledo, you killed your son's dog! And don't ask me to bring him back with that E.T. finger thing cause that's a giant load of crap." Another one of Roger's funny moments is also when Francine is throwing out his junk food - Roger: "Oh, no, not my Frankenberry! Oh, Francine, be reasonable!" And the last quote I'll share is when toast pops out of the toaster and Stan shoots it many times with his gun - Haley: "It's just toast, Dad." / Stan: "This time it was toast, Haley. This time." Overall one of all-favorites. 10 out of 10.
