While in California, Aunt Bee appears on a quiz show and piles up thousands of dollars in loot, basically a whole new kitchen. She also gets a mink coat. Obviously, she wants to share her good fortune with her circle of friends, who immediately begin to talk behind her back. It's small-town nasty. Anyway, I was pleased to see that reality sets in and shows that Aunt Bee has more class than the old biddies she associates with.

A true case of friendship - HA!

Clara, Myra and all the other busybody "harpies" are too narrow minded and self centered to appreciate the good fortune of someone else; someone altruistic enough to invest time and emotional energy into friendship. Too bad it was not Clara who left the show as opposed to Barney. And yes, I do not like Clara.

A lot of depth to a simple episode.

First, how is Goober always away from his job at the filling station in the middle of the day? There were a lot of emotions, and human frailties on display. Bee who is on top of the world. Her backstabbing so-called friends Clara (Hope Summers), and Myra (Anzie Strickland) couldn't let Bee have her fun. But, instead turn on her. A very strong AS role. My favorite of hers is as potential home buyer Mrs Lila Sims in "Barney Fife Realtor". The Clara character can be a kind soul, or vicious witch, as here. Goober & Floyd provide all the laughs in an otherwise laughless episode. The whole winning big on a gameshow was a clever theme as everybody at one time has hoped to be in that position. Dry as dust William Christopher is perfect as the stiff IIRS agent.
