When Bergerac discovers that jewel thief Philippa Vale (Liza Goddard) is visiting Jersey, he suspects she may be going to steal a valuable diamond being auctioned off by George Thomas (Dave King) and his wife Fran (Jennifer Guy).

Overall, this was one of the best episodes of the series so far, with Liza Goddard being a very good guest star. This was also the last credit for Richard Hurndall, who played the First Doctor in the Doctor Who episode The Five Doctors. 3.5/5

Rather racily, some nudity in Bergerac featuring I presume a body double of Liza Goddard.

Goddard makes the first of her six appearances in the show. She plays jewel thief Philippa Vale, the ice maiden.

Vale is off to Jersey and before she has even set foot on the island, the police have been alerted. Crozier is not happy that local businessman George Thomas plans to auction off a valuable diamond in order to fund his lavish lifestyle with his much younger bride. Crozier is worried that someone will plan to make a grab for it.

Bergerac keeps an eye on Vale but she is playing a much different game.

I think John Nettles and Liza Goddard enjoyed the cat and mouse games, hence why she became a recurring character. There are several twists here and you have to admire Bergerac for finally being one step ahead. I did think Thomas's security measures for the diamond was as shoddy as his taste in women.

Richard Hurndall plays Maxwell Flagg, a wealthy gem dealer who has his eye on bidding for the diamond. This was Hurndall's final screen credit.
