The Clampetts Discover Pro Wrestlng

The Rass'lin Clampetts is one of the better episodes of the series. After Granny and Mrs. Drysdale have an altercation, Jed tries explaining to Granny folks in the city don't settle their differences through violence, to which Jethro says "Yes they do" and tells about the women wrestlers on TV. The family settles in the parlor that night to watch Rebecca of Donnybrook Farm (a sweet little farm girl) fight The Boston Strong Girl. The Boston Strong Girl puts a heavy beating on Rebecca, and Granny declares she can't bear to watch, making Jethro leave with her. Later, as Jed and Elly are still watching the program, they witness Granny jump into the ring and teach the Boston Strong Girl why not to beat up on a Tennessee girl.

TIME TO WRASTLE-MANIA!

This is yet another out outrageous "granny" episode as the two-fisted matriarch of the Clampett family gets into another scrap with snooty next door neighbor Mrs. Drysdale. I have to admit, Harriett MacGibbon, who played Mrs. D, wore some stunning clothes and was a very good actress, guesting on such cop shows as MANNIX in later years. Their neighborly fight all leads to tv wrestling matches and Granny's fascination with all the zany characters, such as Rebecca of Donnybrook Farm? The opposition is the Boston Strong Girl who beats up Rebecca, leaving Granny no choice but to jump into the ring herself and teach that brute to leave a defenseless Tennessee girl alone??? Look for Bill Baldwin as the ring announcer, actually a veteran WWII reporter and the president of the radio artists union for many years in Hollywood. TO BE CONTINUED in the "Great Tag Team Match"!!! SEASON 6 EPISODE 22.
