A Good Start
mitchrmp6 October 2012
Even though this is the fourth episode, Clay is just getting around to putting up his sign and certificate. Marshal Scott can't resist giving Clay a hard time about it.

Meanwhile, we have yet another family feud where the result is death but the "who done it" is a bit difficult to tell. Though the story has been done many times and you pretty much know who turns out to be the bad guy, it's still an interesting twist and shows just how stupid and impatient human nature can be.

In the end, Clay of course gets his man but this time he was unsuccessful in the courtroom.

Warning: Spoilers
Maggie (Phyllis Coates) is the mail order bride that wealthy Ben Dawes has married.

Since the marriage Ben has become distant from his younger brother Milo Dawes. The reason is Maggie.

Milo reckons that Maggie is bleeding Ben dry. She has material needs, she wants to travel. Ben has sole a parcel of his land to some developers.

Clay Culhane has just finished putting up his sign as a lawyer. Marshall Scott even has a dig at Clay about it.

Ben Dawes shows up soon after wanting to change his will. He wants to cut his brother from the will and give everything to Maggie.

Although she implores to Ben about cutting his brother out and leaving his nephews something. Ben soon dies in an accident.

Marshall Scott soon arrests Maggie for murder but this is not a clear cut case.

Coates played Maggie as a very plausible client. Sweet and innocent. It turned out to be all an act. Even Clay Culhane was fooled until he saw a letter she wrote.
