Virginia City is growing and freighter Carroll O'Connor decides some big city type
methods are needed. He has visions of being a big city boss and controlling Virginia City's supplies will gain him the recognition. But when one of his gunmen
shoots Michael Landon when he was hauling supplies for the Ponderosa that puts
him at war with the Cartwrights.
Carroll O'Connor does a fine job as the would be boss of Virginia City. Ironically today Virginia City survives with a nominal population on the tourist trade. Who knows what might have happened had they a town boss. In real life the town was built high in the Sierras for access to the fabled Comstock Lode. When it dried up so did Virginia City.
