Alice's Old Boyfriend
Jimmy_the_Gent430 August 2020
Mark Millard, and old boyfriend of Alice's calls her up and takes her out while he is in town.

An OK episode, one of the few which focuses on Alice. It turns out Mark is a con artist trying to swindle some money out of Alice. No real big laughs here, until the ending when Mark gets his comeuppance. The kids don't have much to do here.

ALICE AND THE BIG BAD CROOK!
tcchelsey13 January 2024
Elroy Schwartz, veteran of GILLIGANS ISLANDS and MY THREE SONS, many more sitcoms, wrote this classic --and with a lesson attached.

Beware of old flames bringing gifts!

Alice's old boyfriend, Mark (played by Steve Dunne), calls her up one fine day and invites her to a special dinner. It's all nice; flowers, wine and candles --and comes a question. Would she like to be in on a ground floor opportunity???

A really big deal! What is it? Alice hasn't a clue!

She's about to draw lots of money from her bank account, that is until Mike and Carol check out who Mark actually is. A con man with lots of wives and bills!

This is terrific story, but I also agree with the last reviewer, it's all Alice, the kids don't have much to say or do. Super ending when Mark shows up at the house hoping to get a pile of cash. He's fast on his feet when it's time to RUN!

This was Steve Dunne's first appearance on the show, a popular actor, also known for his many roles (as good and bad guys) on ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS. Steve would guest star a few seasons later in the famous "Silver Platters" tv contest episode, playing the host.

SEASON 2 EPISODE 23 remastered ABC/Paramount dvd box set.
