Conclusion of a Chuck Connors storyline
kevinolzak30 August 2011
"The Assassins" concludes with Jason trying to identify a blade left behind by a failed attempt on the life of President Grant (William Bryant). He is soon shocked to learn that it's part of a set belonging to Senator Keith Ashley (Peter Graves), husband to Jason's old flame Laurette (Kamala Devi), who will be attending a costume ball for the President that night, where the next attempt will be made using a sword dipped in slow acting poison. John Carradine makes his fourth appearance as Jason's grandfather, General Joshua McCord, establishing what will take place in the final episode, "Kellie," where he and Jason go into business together as surveyors out West. Jim Davis makes an even more brief appearance than he did in part 1, and would soon be reunited with Carradine (they first worked together in 1942's "Northwest Rangers") in the Al Adamson Western, "Five Bloody Graves" (1966), as well as John Payne's "They Ran for Their Lives" (1967).
