"He's kind of a wild animal, too; not mean like Cole Younger, but he could stand some tamin' just the same."
faunafan1 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The train conductor's assessment of Cheyenne Bodie made Laura Barrington's eyes sparkle. She's on the train to Denver with her mother and young son, ripe for whatever adventure awaits in this new country they're visiting for the first time. Becoming infatuated with the handsome cowboy who's not like anyone she knows in Philadelphia is a great way to start the adventure.

He and another U. S. Marshal are escorting the notorious Cole Younger to prison, but it doesn't quite go as planned. Inevitably, the efforts to free (or at one point, kill) Younger fail and he winds up heading to prison, after all, but with an adjusted outlook, thanks to an impromptu bit of logic by Cheyenne. Unlikely scenario, maybe, but it's always fun to see how Cheyenne Bodie gets the job done, even if sometimes he needs a little help from an idealistic script writer.

On a romantic outing with Laura, they happen upon the attempted roundup of wild horses by experienced cowpokes, who manage to trap the horses in a canyon. When the lead stallion tries frantically to break out, Laura expresses sympathy for the beautiful animal. Cheyenne assures her that his capture won't last. Watching with admiration as the horse's hooves fight the makeshift fence, he says, "Some wild things are meant to run free." He's right, of course, for moments later the stallion breaks through and leads the entire herd triumphantly out of the canyon.

Laura's ultra-practical mother knew he wasn't talking about wild horses, but about himself. Both Laura and Cheyenne know it, too. She will go back to Philadelphia, for the rest of her life to savor that sweet taste she once had of the wild, wild west. Cheyenne Bodie might need a little tamin', but he's got a few more trails to ride before he meets the woman who can do it.

The real West, huh?
pensman7 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Typical episode with Cheyenne being pursued by a rich attractive lonely widow with cute-kid type and disapproving mother-in-law. Then there's the bad guy, with friends trying to rescue him, Cole Younger, who Cheyenne is escorting via train to a Denver prison. Add to the mix a wild stallion that enjoys its freedom representing Cole or Cheyenne, take your pick. Did I mention the inside man, a crooked railroad conductor. Then the unbelievable ending with Cole's gang freeing him, but he chooses to listen to Cheyenne's little talk about responsibility and instead of escaping to Mexico, he chooses to continue on to prison.Unfortunately for Cheyenne, the widow decides she wants her freedom too, sneaky old wild stallion symbol, and off she goes; but not to fear, a hot blond steps in to comfort Cheyenne and mend his broken heart. Nothing like the real wild West.

One of the worst episodes
classicrun21 July 2022
I have loved this series since the 1950s and watch episodes over and over but this is one of the worst. Other than Walker, the acting is awful. It's worst than high school plays. Wow. Just wow.
