Warning: Spoilers
Corky and Joey are in a supply wagon when the wheel falls off, luckily right in front of the blacksmith's barn. Mrs. Buford is the smith and Hector, her son, is the assistant. Hector is huge. Hector lifts the packed wagon while his ma slides a new wheel into place.

Hector is allowed to attend the circus but few people are there. The people are watching McCullough's Medicine Show featuring the world's strongest man, Abdullah. Abdullah used to be in the circus but he works in the medicine show for a share of the profits. Big Tim is upset because he knows McCullough's medicine is worthless.

McCullough offers a prize of $500 to any two men who can stay in a prize fight ring with Abdullah for three minutes. When Tim sees Hector, he offers him a job as a circus strong man. Hector can take the job as long as his ma says it's OK. Hector show is to lift Bimbo the elephant.

McCullough offers to buy Tim out. Tim refuses but McCullough puts up posters advertising a wrestling match between Abdullah and Hector. Tim accepts but the rules are one fall and no dirty tricks. McCullough proposes a bet, if Hector wins then McCullough gives up his business, if Abdullah wins then McCullough gets half the circus. Problem is, Hector's ma says no to a wrestling match after the bet was made. It's fighting and she's opposed to all fighting.

If Hector doesn't fight then the circus is forfeit. Corky finds Hector and tries to explain to his ma how McCullough cheats people. Hector doesn't like that so he decides to fight: he tells his ma he is big enough to make his own decisions. It would be a fair fight but Abdullah knows a lot of wrestling moves and he cheats. Ma Buford shows up and tells her son to thump Abdullah. Hector wins and the circus is saved.

Hector is leaving the show; he is taking over the blacksmith shop. Hector believes it is better for him and his ma that he stay in his town.
