It's not LAPD...
NancyLou924 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Very good show all around and this one was particularly good, with all it's twists and turns. Another reviewer posted that an error was made in having the police woman step forward in the "a rape is about to happen" scene, that they stepped forward with the statement, "LAPD!" While the captions DOES say "LAPD", in listening to it again, as I was confused about an LAPD officer being in Philadelphia, the officer is plainly saying, "Philly PD".

Listen to it again and it becomes more clear.

Overall, though, "Ravaged" was one of the better shows as it gave us a glimpse into the past life of Nick Vera, who seems to have had a relationship in High School that he kind of walked away from for more personal reasons than are discussed in the show. I prefer shows in this series that give us some insight into what made these people who they are. To be fair, they tend to stay in the stories surrounding Lilly a bit too long, sometimes. I feel Lilly tends to work too hard at being "hard".

Mysterious, but not a "mystery"
badlandscowboy4 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
There were parts of this episode which I enjoyed, but the ending reminded me of Hercule Poirot's comment at the end of a stage play in one of Agatha Christie's books. He protested that it was not fair to bring on a culprit that there had been no clues about.

Mysteries have that convention. It's often the person you least suspect that "dunnit," but if you read(watch) it again, there were clues pointing to their guilt. Not here. The culprit was presented as a good guy right up to the last scene where Lilly accuses him.

That is actually my only complaint about this series. They are great drama, show flashbacks accurately to earlier times (music, clothes, cars, etc), usually have many suspects and motives to consider, and have a unique "shtick": interspersing the characters now with themselves at the time of the crime. No wonder they won so many awards.

Someone read the "Not LAPD" reviews.

Binge watching before it leaves Roku tomorrow so I'm only watching episodes with reviews. They changed it to "Philly PD!" You can't see the actress' face so I wouldn't have known, probably wouldn't have even noticed!! Appreciate all the observant viewers out there! You all make this all a bit more fun!

A Massive Fault
TerribleKatherine26 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The episode is mediocre by the plot, tragic and dramatic enough. What seriously bothers me is the blatant evidence of animal cruelty (dog fighting) and nobody does anything about it. None of the detectives is troubled by the fact that the disgusting man STILL has a dog which he is more likely abusing, those kind of people do not change. Honestly felt worse for the dog Ravage than the female victim, the abuse was heinous and they didn't even say what happened to the dog in the end. It's completely different to commit some small time crimes like spelling pot to the neighborhood than actually actively abusing animals. These kind of series always drop the ball in these kind of series.
