What price privacy?
JordanThomasHall8 April 2019
Eddie receives his first telegram, informing him that astronaut Gordon Cooper (himself) has accepted his invitation to lunch. Tom cautions his son that it may not really be from Gordon Cooper and may be a joke from a classmate. Tom verifies the address to indeed be from Gordon Cooper. Tom receives a call from Mr. Weston (Bill Fiore), (father of Eddie's classmate Sammy), a television station manager who wants to televise the luncheon. Tom advises him that he will have to talk it over with Eddie, who doesn't think Mr. Cooper would enjoy the added attention. Mr. Weston says he's already talked to network executives and offers Tom $1,000 to do it. Tom says he respects his son's decision, but agrees to let Mr. Weston talk to Eddie. Eddie feels pressured by the decision but stands by the fact he invited Mr. Cooper to a private lunch and it wouldn't be fair to make a TV special over it. Tom is proud of his son. Mr. Weston visits Tom again to put more pressure to get the show- doubling the offer to go to a charity to help crippled children. This time Tom speaks for Eddie in declining the offer. Eddie feels guilty now. Mrs Livingston reassures him, "Some people try use all kinds of reasons to hurt you when they cannot have their way." Tom also reassures Eddie, "In the name of charity they were still trying to buy off a person's privacy." He adds they'll find another way to help the children. As the luncheon approaches Eddie becomes nervous.

Moral: Privacy is a right that should be protected at all costs.

A lesson on privacy. Gordon Cooper unfortunately becomes political with a delusional suggestion of the world having open borders before calling out Los Angeles for pollution.
