Fear of a First Kiss
JordanThomasHall30 April 2019
Eddie has been picked to play the leading role in a school play entitled "The Prince and the Rose" for Parents Night. Tom privately wonders how the typical young boy will handle having to kiss a girl. When it's found out that Eddie has to kiss a girl on the lips, the boys laugh. His teacher Mrs. Pick (Aldine King) says he doesn't have to kiss the princess, played by Elsie (Gabie Grammar), in rehearsal. Eddie questions his dad about kissing girls. Tom says he may be pleasantly surprised how he feels after doing so. Eddie decides to quit the play, afraid to kiss the girl. Norman tells Tom, "I think a healthy fear of a young girl's lips is very normal for a healthy young boy." Tom agrees, adding that to do so in front of a big audience must also be hard for him. Mrs. Pick says there isn't time for another boy to learn the part and Tom feels as a result Eddie is obligated. Eddie resists and tries to catch a cold on the patio balcony. Tom relates advice he was given in fear of his first kiss. Eddie stays in the play where he is teased about the kiss beforehand by the other boys. The play begins smoothly, but the kiss scene looms.

It is a bit predictable, but an interesting development in a young boy's life.
