A couple of no-count undertakers do whatever it takes when it comes to both business and payment. The dead man's gun enters into the equation in the worst way possible during an especially slow period.
Director William Gereghty keeps the enjoyably bent story moving along at a brisk pace as well as offers a flavorsome evocation of the Old West. Moreover, it's a lot of perverse fun to watch these two wormy guys resort to some seriously immoral drastic measures in order to drum up business. The always excellent Larry Drake brings a rascally charm to his sleazy character of Buryin' Sam Roller. Ken Pogue likewise excels as Roller's equally slimy partner Theodore Claxton. Nicely darkly ironic ending, too. A real treat.
