Donna (Donna Reed) wonders about Alex (Carl Betz)'s attentiveness; then, they attend a 20th anniversary wedding celebration for neighboring couple Kathleen Freeman and Howard McNear (as Celia and Wilbur Wilgus). As the two couples plays bridge, Ms. Freeman is irritated by her husband's preoccupation with his admiring secretary. Later, Mr. McNear's unromantic anniversary present, a meat slicer, puts the Wilgus' marriage on the rocks. Donna wants to help bring the couple back together, but McNear mistakes her interest for love
A very silly story, highlighted by its guest cast: the second appearance of Freeman, the first from "husband" McNear (before he moved to Andy Griffith's "Mayberry", as barber "Floyd"), and familiar television actress Maudie Prickett. Shelley Fabares and Paul Peterson appear only briefly in this episode.
