The Amazing George Foreman - Both Of Them!
ccthemovieman-130 March 2010
Warning: Spoilers
It's no surprise this was a fascinating hour-long episode because who, in the history of sports, has transformed himself more than boxer George Foreman? The answer is "nobody," and nobody disagrees with that because no one comes close to being two totally different characters in their career than Foreman, from brutish unlikable thug to loving, old and fat super-salesman and comeback athlete of the decade. A boxer who is heavyweight champion, loses a dramatic and famous fight but comes back 20 years later and eventually regains the title? This is uncharted territory in the history of boxing and probably any sport.

The ups and downs and complex nature of Foreman is amazing, to say the least, and this episode pretty much covers it all, including words of kindness and support to skepticism and criticism. Foreman can evoke all kinds of responses.

A born-again Christian who overnight went from "monster" to a gentleman, people - especially the press which is almost entirely secular - don't know what to make of big George....never have, but nobody denies the man changed radically and what he has accomplished in sports and outside of it is almost too incredible for words.

This was a very interesting episodes, and very much recommended even if you're not a sports fan. It's just a good "character study" of a fascinating person.
