I do wonder if Enemy at the Door lost a bit of impetus with the loss of Dr Martel and Peter Porteous.
It does lead to the introduction of new characters. Dr Forbes now looking the medical welfare of the islanders.
Then there is Captain Tom Foster-Smythe who is representing the interest of the islanders when it comes to producing food. He is already crossing swords with General Müller who wants more food for the German troops.
Smythe has a nice line in getting some extra meat which comes handy with the black market. The Germans might be onto him.
As for Clare Martel she is rescued from her attempted drowning. I groaned when she mumbles that incident with the German pilot just as Richter visits her bed at the hospital.
At the moment Richter does nothing about Clare's delirious ramblings.
There was a nice scene where Reinicke and Müller have a meeting at a hotel, the kind now frequented by the Germans. They are the only ones who can afford to eat there and the owner knows which side his bread is buttered.
