When the show begins, Howard (William Windom) informs his wife that the time has arrived. It seems he's embezzled a LOT of money from his bank and they both knew he'd eventually be discovered. Now here's the hitch...she's in an iron lung so he'll be taking off on his own.
When Erskine interviews the wife, she is NOT the stereotypical noble disabled person. Nope...she approved of what her hubby's done and refuses to help authorities.
In the meantime, Howard has paid a man to have him spirited into Canada. Unfortunately, the guy that man paid to transport Howard is scum...and VIrgil (Bruce Dern) has his own plans. He is going to murder Howard and take the $250,000 he's carrying in his briefcase! So, this is a case where Howard actually HOPES he gets caught...as this is his only way he'll survive this ordeal.
This is a super-taut and exciting episode...made more so by the wife who is not the usual stereotype. Well worth seeing and very well acted.
