Continuity seems off

During Season 6, episode 17 Two Guys From Appleton, Ms. Garrett said she didn't show up to her senior prom with her then boyfriend Ted. Instead she married a salesman which was her ex-husband Mr. Garrett. She had two children with her ex-husband. Then after that, she became a maid for the Drummond family. Next she became the house mother at Eastland then she was promoted to dietitian. Next her son purchased the building which allowed her to open the shop Edna's Edibles. Now, she and her girls are partners at the shop Over Our Heads.

I understand they wanted a nice way to transition Ms. Garrett out of the show. At what point did she join the Peace Corp?

Why not let her marry Ted and they could have moved to Canada like they were originally discussing.

What happened to Ted's son attending Eastland and living in the attic?

Why is George there some episodes and not others?

End of an era

...and the beginning of a silly one. After Mrs. Garrett leaves, Nancy McKeon seems totally checked out. Thankfully Mindy Cohn is as funny as ever as Natalie and saves a lot of the next two seasons.

It's really hard to say goodbye to Charlotte Rae and I never liked how they did it here. Despite it being an hour long episode, it felt rushed. And going to the Peace Corps at age 60? She was leaving the show. They could have just had her retire to another state. And she just gets married, throws blueberries at the girls and runs off. Goodbye.

I love Cloris Leachman as a rule but never cared for her here. I felt the girls didn't really need her as they were so much older now. It was a shame but is all in the past. The show was never the same without Rae.
