Reggie makes another appearance on 'Pillock Talk', hosted by the unctuous Colin Pillock ( Timothy Carlton ). After answering questions in monosyllables, he then gives incredibly long-winded replies that befuddle the host.
Back at Perrins, things could not be better. But storm clouds are gathering on the horizon - firstly, Jimmy's old army pal ( and professional con man ) Clive 'Lofty' Anstruther ( Terence Alexander )shows up, begging for rehabilitation. After being accepted, he proceeds to rob everyone in the place. Secondly, new arrival Deborah Swaffham ( Hilary Tindall ) is a nymphomaniac who tries to seduce every man she meets, even Doc Morrissey and C.J. She has a peculiar habit of inviting men to her room, and then not being there when they arrive. Her sights are on Reggie, but he escapes her amorous advances by climbing down a drain pipe ( which breaks ).
An above average Season 3 episode, mainly due to the rematch between Reggie and the pompous Colin Pillock. A touch of 'Rigsby' creeps into Reggie's character in the scene where a young black man complains about the racial prejudice he endures at work. Reggie assumes he is a bus conductor, but he is in fact a school teacher.
Man hungry Deborah Swaffham is played by the sultry Hilary Tindall, whom I used to fancy when she was in the B.B.C. drama 'The Brothers'. Her picture was on my bedroom wall, along with those of Gabrielle Drake, Sheila White and Maddy Smith. I was devastated to read in a newspaper in 1992 that Hilary had passed away from cancer. Terence Alexander was 'Charlie Hungerford' in the long-running B.B.C. detective show 'Bergerac'.
Funniest moment - when valuables go missing, Reggie pleads for sympathy and understanding of the thief. The thefts continue, and his patience finally snaps: "Help me nail the sod!".
