Two episodes of the "Roseanne vs. Jackie Thomas Sitcoms" run of "The New Family Feud" were quite enjoyable
tavm12 September 2010
What I'm reviewing here are two episodes of a three episode run of a syndicated "New Family Feud" that featured the teams of the TV shows "Roseanne" (Roseanne Barr Arnold, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Michael Fishman-1st show I'm reviewing, Estelle Parsons-2nd show I'm reviewing) and "The Jackie Thomas Show" (Tom Arnold, Dennis Boutsikaris, Alison La Placa, Martin Mull, Paul Feig-1st show, Michael Boatman-2nd show). Okay, the highlights of the first show was that during the Bullseye round in which only the No. 1 answer is accepted, host Ray Combs asked "Name someone famous, past or present, whose first name is Richard" of which Goodman answered "Nixon" which was the right answer. Think what might have happened if he answered "Dawson" and that was the one! Also, one of the survey questions was "Name a reason you'd miss a party" of which Dennis gave the No. 5 answer and John gave the No. 4 one but since both had the same amount of surveyed people that gave it (3) and Dennis was first with the buzzer, the "Jackie Thomas" team went first. The "Roseanne" party won with Barr and Sara gong for Fast Money of which 200 or more points went on Sara's third answer. With the second show, the "Jackie Thomas" team answered all the correct answers on the Bullseye round (first time a team did that on the show) and they went to FM with Tom and Alison playing and them going to 200 or more on Alison's fourth answer. Oh, and the first survey question in the regular game round was "What was the biggest problem when you were first married?" to which Tom answered, "I was on drugs!" which got his teams first strike. LOL! On that same question, Estelle answered "sex" which had Ray congratulating her since she previously used that reply two times! One more thing I've noticed was that on both shows, the microphones were kept on so we hear everything said even when certain parts of the game were over. Despite the possibility of some of the arguments between Roseanne and then-husband Tom seeming to not to be taken all in stride, this was still a quite funny outing for the two outside of their respective shows especially when Tom pointed at one "judge"-who had a brief on-camera appearance-shaking her head at his answers before the board revealed how wrong they were after which Ray revealed it was just his wife. Certainly it helped with Ray's comments about the couple throughout. Both eps are on YouTube if you want to check them out.
