Another "Kathy the Brat" episode
Joannakathryn14 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Maybe because I'm binge-watching, I'm aware of how annoying Kathy can be. Jim and Margaret let her get away with defying them, talking back, and taking things that don't belong to her.

She's decided her "boyfriend" is a young man Betty's age, and Jim and Margaret seem to encourage her, and they make Betty feel bad for not giving in to her.

I don't really believe in spanking, but if my own son had ever told me "No," when I told him not to do something....well, he wouldn't have dared.

It ended well when Kathy decided it wasn't all that much fun, trying to entertain the young man, but somebody should have removed her to her room and explained that a 6-8-year old doesn't get the same privileges as a teenager.

It just isn't reasonable
Kathy wants equality and Jim promises it to her, but he doesn't use his head at all in applying it. Betty wants to invite a boy for dinner, so Kathy insists that she can, too. No one thought to tell her that equality doesn't imply that she get to invite a boy for the same day. Later, she's wearing Betty's sweater because Betty wore it yesterday. Instead of explaining it to her, they tried to talk her out of it. The whole episode just wasn't thought out very well.

What Kathy Wants, Kathy Gets

(*Jim to Bud quote*) - "Do you have to shout like that!?"

Spoiled brat, Kathy Anderson doesn't like being the youngest child of the family. She feels that she's always getting the hand-me-downs.

When Jim and Margaret decide to give Kathy equality of privileges she becomes very demanding about what she believes are her rights.

This certainly wasn't one of the better episodes from TV's "Father Knows Best".

Bratty Kathy

Warning: Spoilers
This is one the stupidest episodes I have ever seen. How Margaret and Jim, especially Jim have her way in this episode, I'll never understand. It's bad enough that Kathy took items that didn't belong to her in the beginning of the episode, but that whole thing with Betty and her boyfriend was just ridiculous. Jim made a promise to Kathy he probably wished he hadn't(he promised her equal rights) and when the situation with Betty's boyfriend comes up, Kathy hold him to his promise and will not compromise, when Jim comes up with an alternate solution. What I don't like is Betty and Kathy fighting over a boy, who the boy doesn't even realize, they are fighting over him. He was only interested in Betty not Kathy and Kathy was acting like Betty stole him from her and Jim makes Betty feel ashamed, like she did something wrong, because Kathy started crying because the boy was not paying attention to her. Betty then decides to let the brat to have her boyfriend and Howard(the boy) is wondering what the heck is going on. Where's Betty? It ends well though. Jim cleverly invites a boy over Kathy's age and she realizes she's too young for Howard.
