Looking for Growth in Season 3
Hitchcoc1 October 2019
Frasier invites Roz to his place for his dad's birthday party. The problem is there is perpetual bickering. He tries to appease everyone and solve their issues. They can only snipe at each other and at him. The big thing is that the lights go out which leads to all kinds of complications. The show goes into Season 3 and we need to see a few changes and character development.

One of the better season finales.

Warning: Spoilers
Frasier had tons of good episodes in 11 seasons and the the premiers & finales were often particularly good. This one stands out as even better than most of those. The writing is solid, the jokes are funny, and it manages to be genuinely touching without getting overly mushy. They found a plausible excuse to have the lights out and actually use the fireplace which lends a certain atmosphere for the intimate conversation.

Much like the first season finale this one does a great job reflecting on the growth and changes happening with the characters and how they relate to each other. Frasier comes home expecting a nice evening and instead fixes everyone's issues. He even refers to Roz and Daphne as extended family.

A great episode and one that should be used as an example to folks who haven't yet seen the series and don't know what all the hype is about.

An episode of growth
studioAT17 July 2017
In the early years of 'Frasier' the writers seemed to use the series finale as a chance to see the growth of the central character.

It makes for a slightly slower paced, more melancholic episode, but it is a good early example of the writers proving that the main characters can all be in the same room and it works.

It's been a mixed bag second series of the show, but overall it still maintains its air of class and stands up even today.
