Did you know
- TriviaThe name of the upscale day spa that Frasier and Niles visit is aptly named La Porte D'argent, which is French for "The Silver Door." Furthermore, "argent" also means "money" in French.
- GoofsIn the first scene, as Frasier is hanging up his coat, Kelsey Grammer is seen wearing black sneakers with his suit with no mention or explanation of it in the show. Frasier Crane would never commit such a faux pas. Obviously Kelsey Grammer wore these for comfort, not intending the shoes to be seen on camera.
- Quotes
Dr. Frasier Crane: Niles, why can't we be happy. Why must we allow the thought of something that to this point could only be incrementally better ruin what is here and now?
Dr. Niles Crane: I don't know, let's figure it out on the other side.
- Crazy creditsWhen the title "Frasier" (in silver letters) and the usual silhouette of Seattle are on screen, an animated monorail train appears, moving from right to left in front of the "buildings".

Perhaps the best episode.
I am a huge fan of "Frasier" and it's one of my favorite network television shows. I have never reviewed any of the shows and have taken a moment to do it for "Door Jam" because it is among the best...perhaps the very best. It is wonderfully written and the ending is simply hilarious.
The show begins with Frasier accidentally getting a private invitation for Cam Winston, his nemesis, to go to something called "La Porte D'Argent". But he and Niles have no idea what that is...but they want to go there because it sounds very exclusive and snobby. When they arrive at the place, it turns out to be a heavenly health spa. Niles and Frasier love the place and declare that they MUST come back....until they notice a golden door. That door is for the 'Gold Level'...something their membership does not include. Naturally, they'd kill to manage to get into that even more exclusive level. Where it all goes next, you'll just need to see for yourself.
Excellent writing, a great punchline and a chance, once again, to see Niles and Frasier get their comeuppance....from which, naturally, they learn absolutely nothing!
