All Bets Off (#5.24)

Warning: Spoilers
Rose is working on some pictures of St. Olaf which can even be hung in the museum at the section for the local artists. She wants to see a horse before she paints one as she has trouble painting it out of memory and goes with Dorothy to the racing track. But Dorothy has had a gambling problem before and now she gets it again so that she has to go to Gambling Anonymous.

I kind of feel they made Rose more stupid in this episode than ever before. Still funny, but it kind of bothered me. I prefer her to be less of an idiot and just more naive and sweet.

Dorothy was good in this episode. And a good topic. But Sophia's insults to Blanche and Rose didn't do her justice. Come on, she can do better than that!

A rather dour episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Dorothy's in a jam because you f a gambling addiction that up until now has never been mentioned. She misses job interviews because of that, preferring to go to the racetrack instead, and even tries to swindle Rose. As much as I try to sympathize with her (as she usually is my favorite character on the show), I can't because a lot of her actions are completely out of character for her. Rose is given a minor plotline, painting for the museum Blanche works at, while Blanche has issues deciding if she's going to continue to see someone she works with. But Dorothy's issue dominates the episode, and is wrapped up way too fast, and not in a convincing way.

Unbelievably Disjointed Episode

Warning: Spoilers
Sophia and Blanche steal $2,000 from Dorothy's bank account and it's barely mentioned by Dorothy. I don't know how the writers totally forgot about this except for a quick mention by Sophia that Dorothy was told and forgave her. Bea Arthur had the energy of a snail on a turtle's back. She literally sounded sick. Worst episode ever.
