This above average of the short-lived Golden Palace is surprisingly funny considering the absurdness of the plot. There's a general conflict between Blanche and Roland over who is running the hotel, and Blanche seems to forget that she co-owns it with Rose and that Roland really knows the business better than her. They have to deal with the presence of a hotel critic and the presence of Bobcat Goldthwait as a TV show guest dealing with murderers released from prison, all guests at the Golden Palace. It's interesting that the TV talk show has the same music as "Grab That Dough" and Blanche uses "thrice" in a sentence. Cheech has a very funny reference to being shocked that Blanche would think that he, of all people, would smoke pot. It shows that the show started off on the right path even if it's obvious that the young Oliver wasn't necessary.
