How can a man with hair that looks like that be so cocky?!

Robert Reed and Barbara Anderson (both very familiar TV actors) star as the Meighans. This power couple is very wealthy and they own some powerful construction businesses. They come to McGarrett's attention when he begins investigating a remarkable bank robbery. The robbers somehow got past a seemingly impossible to crack lock to get into the bank's vault--and there is no evidence how the crooks did it. Considering they stole at least $4,000,000 worth of stuff, it is a high priority for Five-O to crack the case--and for once the FBI seems eager to get the local help as they are stumped. So what about the Meighans? Well, McGarrett's only possible explanation is that somehow the 'impenetrable' vault was deliberately made with a trap door or something--something the builder MUST have designed into the place. But in this age BEFORE ground-penetrating radar, finding this way in and out isn't easy.

As for Mr. Meighan, he is an odd-ball. No, I am not referring to Reed's crazy perm but that his character is so cocky. The guy is already rich and doesn't need the money and seems to just love the challenge. He also loves being able to feel superior to everyone--and tweaking the police's collective noses is his ultimate prize. Can this cocky guy and his lovely wife get away with one or will McGarrett and his team once again chalk up a victory for the powers of niceness?

I liked this episode but did not love it. Reed's character was intriguing and a bit funny. But, I must also admit that the episode seemed very far-fetched--especially when you learn that three other banks also were robbed the same way and the FBI can't seem to get a handle on the case....yet McGarrett and his men solve this crime that has stumped Federal authorities for months. Still, worth seeing if not a great episode.
