Robbie To The Rescue!
ShadeGrenade29 June 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Billie is perplexed at finding golf balls all over the junkyard. Brains has put them there because he wishes to test a new robot he has designed and built called 'Robbie'. The robot, which looks like a low budget version of 'Iron Man', grabs a golf club and putts the balls into the air, one by one.

They travel some considerable distance before coming to Earth - smack in the middle of Mr.Parsons' ( Frank Thornton ) well-kept garden. Gnomes and greenhouse windows disintegrate before his eyes.

Tiger is passing by the house, swinging her favourite toy, when it breaks apart, leaving her holding its tail. The rest of the stuffed animal flies over a high wall and lands in Mr.Parsons' garden, and the miserable so and so refuses to hand it back.

Upset, she goes to see the other Double Deckers. Brains demonstrates the robot's dancing ability before using it to retrieve Tiger's beloved toy...

Frank Thornton of 'Are You Being Served?' and 'Last Of The Summer Wine' guests here as the pompous Mr.Parsons. On seeing Robbie clanking around his garden, he thinks the Martians have landed. By coincidence, he is also producer of 'Inventors' Club', the television show on which Brains hoped to display Robbie. Michael Sharvell-Martin, a regular on 'Dave Allen At Large', plays the floor manager.

The poor bloke in the sardine can is Arnold Taraborelli, choreographer on other episodes of this series.

'Inventors Club' is another production of Century T.V., also mentioned in 'Get A Movie On' and coincidentally the production company behind this series.

Spot Frank Thornton's use of the word 'garbage' instead of 'rubbish'. Its one of the few concessions this show made for the American market.

Funniest moment - Robbie's amazing prowess with a golf club. The whiplash sound effect he makes was used in 'The Avengers' television series in those episodes to feature the dreaded Cybernauts.
