In this unrealistic episode, General Karl Schmidt (Roger C. Carmel) is in charge of a military unit that the Allies wish to bomb but the whereabouts of the unit is unknown. But when Hogan goes with Schultz to pick up some prisoners, Hogan knocks out the General and claims to Klink that he is an Allied officer who poses as a General to escape. When General awakens and demands to be released, Klink believes him to be 'The Shadow' and is making up this entire situation so that he can escape. Klink places the General in the barracks with Hogan and his men.
The rest of the episode is a bunch of silly pranks to get the General to confess the whereabouts of his unit. One even involves a Christmas tree and Santa that was utterly ridiculous.
Roger C Carmel played General Schmidt and actually did a fine job. The problem was with the script that seemed written for children rather than adults. The concept was fine but the execution was poor. Not one of the better shows.
