Jill is looking forward to going to a hardware expo. You read that right. See, Tim's going there to do a Fool Time remote segment, leaving Jill to spend some quality time with her boys. They've been going on these trips ever since the boys were little, and yet this is the first time we've ever heard of it. Anyway, on to Cleveland! Tim's brought six suitcases for all the free samples he's gonna get. Seriously, Tim Taylor at a hardware expo is like a kid in a candy shop. They hit the sack pretty early, and speaking of early, Jill's bright and chipper up at the crack of dawn, eager to go out and spend some time with her boys, if only they'd get their lazy butts outta bed. Perhaps Tim is having better luck downstairs at the expo? He, Al and Heidi are signing autographs, or rather, Heidi's giving all the autographs while Tim and Al sit patiently with stacks of their own 8x10's. When the show finally starts, they look at various displays of machinery and carpentry from many different companies. Al looks at a company that creates wall insulation out of shredded newspapers, while Tim checks out a company that makes giant fans. Hold on, I'm receiving a telegraph. It's the joke that's moments away from happening! The dumbkopf accidentally turns on the fan, blowing shredded newspaper everywhere. Well, that demonstration certainly...blew.
Let's check back with Jill. She's pacing around the lobby, waiting for her ingrate sons to spend time with her. Finally, Brad shows up, but he just wanted to tell her he's going back to the hardware show. Like father, like son. So now it will be just Jill, Randy and Mark, right? Wrong. Randy's going to hang out with the son of the "toilet guy", you know, the one who gave Jill a free sample toilet brush? And Mark's taking off too, because... he's a little pre-emo punk. Back with Tim, after cleaning up the giant mess from the fan, he and Al are at the pest control booth, talking about a new way of eliminating unwanted pests: sonar. By the way, there's a jar of mosquitoes sitting right beside Tim...and I just got another telegraph. Speaking of pests, Jill has showed up and decides to interrupt the show to tell Tim that their rotten kids abandoned her. He politely tells her to get lost, and then... yeah, as expected, the moron knocks over the jar of mosquitoes. "I'm surprised!" said NO ONE! So Tim and Jill bicker, while scratching mosquito bites, and I'm starting to understand why the boys didn't want to be around her. So, despite all the havoc Tim has caused, the expo has become a huge hit, thanks to him, and now everybody wants him to destroy their booths. But as fun as that sounds, Tim decides that his family is more important. Especially after he runs into Brad, who declines to spend any time with him either. Because, like, spending time with your parents on vacation is, like, totally not cool, dude. So he heads upstairs to see Jill, who's raided the mini bar. They share fond memories of when the boys were little, Tim points out that Jill and the boys are closer to one another than she knows. So to make up for ditching their mom at the expo, Brad, Randy, Mark, as well as Tim make Jill a quilt from the boys' old clothing.
This one was pretty good. The change of scenery was nice, and it was a good break from the norm...more or less. I mean, Tim was still causing accidents, Jill was still bitchy, and the boys were rude little jackasses. The jokes weren't very funny and, as indicated above, they're telegraphed long before they happen. The expo scenes were completely removed from reality. I could feel for Jill, being abandoned by the boys, and had she not gone to bug Tim about it, I might have felt sorry for her. So in closing, flawed script and bad jokes aside, this one was alright. I'd recommend checking it out.
