Melissa breaks her engagement to Tony
kevinolzak4 November 2016
"Jeannie and the Marriage Caper" was the second and final appearance of Karen Sharpe as Tony's fiancée Melissa Stone, and Philip Ober as her demanding father, General Wingard Stone. Melissa is anxious to move up the wedding date, especially when her father becomes European ambassador, intending his son-in-law to come along as military attache. Jeannie blinks herself into a houseboy (Mako) before she learns about the general's plans, while at the bachelor party Roger finds himself replaced as best man by Melissa's former beau Grover Caldwell (John Hudson, twin brother of actor William Hudson). With both Melissa and her father making plans without Tony's consent it's only a matter of time before the wedding is off, making for an ecstatic Jeannie. It was a good thing to resolve this conflict fairly early in the series, making things easier going forward.

Mako
jeffpeck501615 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Kato is played by the great actor Mako. Kato is a Japanese name first seen in Hollywood in the Green Hornet 1940's serials. Keyes Luke was one of the stars who played him back then and of course Bruce Lee played Kato in the 1966 TV series a year after this episode. At this time in his life Mako had a full head of hair as Major Nelson demonstrates by grabbing it. Kato speaks with Barbara Eden's voice as this is supposed to be her magical disguise. Gas stoves were actually common in Florida as we had one in Sarasota at the time of this episode and yes it was propane. Barbara Eden was the first pre adolescent love of many of my generation.

Gas or electric

Warning: Spoilers
Jeannie cooks dinner on a gas range. Electric ranges are what Florida uses. Unless you have a propane tank. No natural gas. Propane is an upgrade and needs to be delivered and stored in tanks outside the home.
