The time has come!
angelahptrio9 September 2020
The highest rated episode! Viewers tuned in to watch Lucy and Ricky have their first child and in real life Lucy and Desi's second child Desi junior. From beginning to end the episode is the most memorable and made Television history. It's so good because Ricky, Fred, and Ethel rehearse their part to get Lucy calm once her water breaks. However, as soon as she says it's time they freak out especially Ricky. Classic TV.

Gee, didn't she just find out she was pregnant?

Warning: Spoilers
Confusion erupts in the Ricardo household when Lucy suspects that she's about to go into labor. Ricardos and Mertzes decide to rehearse for the moment when Lucy has to go for sure, and of course when the real moment has, everything is messed up including the fact that they forget to take the frantic mother to be. It hasn't even been 6 weeks since Lucy revealed to Ricky at the Tropicana that she was pregnant, and all of a sudden, she's about ready to pop.

All that aside, this is still an excellent episode because it was celebrating a real life incident with the birth of Lucy and Desi's real life son, Desi Jr., so now we get the introduction of little Ricky. In this episode, it's the papa who's more frantic than the momma to be. Veteran character actor Charles Lane (who would appear on other "I Love Lucy" episodes as well as other Lucy sitcoms) is another expectant father, probably one of the oldest in TV history, and very funny.

Not enough Lucy

Warning: Spoilers
While this is a good episode there is surprisingly little of Lucy in it . Once they get her the hospital we don't see her. No offense to anyone who loves this episode . I know many count it as one of their favorites and it is a good episode but not enough of Lucy. I guess it's the episode that has the least amount of screen time for Lucy which is interesting unlike many shows they don't show her after the delivery .I guess they were being modest about it.

There are some funny scenes like they have to wheel Ricky into the hospital in a wheelchair while Lucy walks in carrying her suitcase! Ricky joining the most blasé father ever in a waiting room . He has six girls already. Fred arrives to wait and talks to the other waiting father . The nurse comes in and the man doesn't have a son or another daughter, he has triplet girls !
