Keeping company
bkoganbing5 November 2020
For the first few seasons of In The Heat Of The Night Lois Nettleton, proprietor of a local eatery was keeping company with Sheriff Bill Gillespie. But what happens in this episode puts a crimp in the relationship.

Kevin Conway a mean and dangerous man escapes from Louisiana state prison and he employed Nettleton as a working girl out of one of his nightclubs in New Orleans. She and two other women's testimonies sent him to jail and he's looking for payback

This is part of her life she kept from Carroll O'Connor. Under the circumstances he takes it with equanimity.

Some of Nettleton's best work in the series and Conway is outstanding.
