Andromeda Strain Revisited?
richard.fuller130 June 2006
Warning: Spoilers
A strange meteorite causes a flux in the Banner-Hulk transformation, resulting in David not making the complete change.

He is aided by a young blind woman (played by the underrated Laurie Prange) and they are both detained by a special secret organization set up to study alien life forms who believe the Hulk is from another planet.

It's all very amusing in its Andromeda Strain way, but I suppose the most tell-all moment is Whit Bissell's recreation of Kate Reid's line from Andromeda Strain "Let's try a rhesus" she says, meaning to expose a rhesus monkey to the virus in the movie.

Whit will say about the ensnared Hulk "let's try the hand" meaning a co-worker's mechanical hand operation.

Well, of course the Hulk made short work of that silly thing, and truthfully had the Hulk been some form of intelligent alien life, I really don't see what the Dr. Octopus hand would do with him.

In the end, all the Andromeda Strain homage falls to the wayside (mainly because this wasn't an alien of course) and we are left with rampaging, which made this show so much fun.

But an even stranger bit is the emergence of Mr. McGee as some sort of hero. He knew more about what they were dealing with than the scientists did.

And a threat from imprisonment because of his trespassing? "Prison is where some wonderful books are written. I'm sure I could write a good one about this secret place."

Jack McGee is better than James Bond
saracarlos-13 August 2020
It was a good conclusion for this two-part episode. It is funny to watch this episode after watching it for the first time since I was a little kid. Back then I didn't realize all the holes about the episode.

The military had trapped the Hulk using microwave technology but after he escaped they were supposed to use it again, so he could not escape again, but they never did it. Then Jack McGee convinced the military and scientists to let him talked to him so he could convince him to stop. Well, because the military has great respect for the civilians and the reporters who threaten them about revealing their "secret" projects. Also McGee can get into any facility and investigate without anybody questioning who he is.

And I forgot to mention that the Major did shoot the Hulk several times with tranquilizers, and they did not have any effect on the Hulk, but in a previous episode McGee shot him once and the Hulk had blurry vision and it was hard for him to continue running. I guess he has better equipment than the military.

As I mention, it is fun to watch the episodes so many years later. The series is still enjoyable.

The Project
AaronCapenBanner21 November 2014
In the second part of the season opener, David Banner(Bill Bixby) and Katie Maxwell(Laurie Prange) have been captured by the military in a scientific project called Prometheus. David is still the Hulk, whom the project members think is an extra-terrestrial, unsuspecting it is really a man, though dogged reporter Jack McGee(Jack Colvin) gets wind of this big development and sneaks his way onto the base to fill the military in on the Hulk, who finally pounds his way free of the dome and escapes... Equally exciting conclusion to this story has lots of action and fine direction, leading to a memorable end, and making up for the contrived plot.

Great conclusion to a terrific two-parter

Warning: Spoilers
As Part 2 of "Prometheus" opens, the creature is taken to a top secret military establishment located deep inside a mountain. Intrepid reporter Jack McGee has followed the creature and infiltrated the Prometheus outfit. There he learns the government has funded the military extensively to develop a plan in case humans make contact with an alien life form. But it doesn't take long for the Hulk to break loose, wreck havoc and burn the place down.

The second part of "Prometheus" is no less effective than the first one. Great production values abound here, fast paced action and good performances from veteran actors in supporting roles.

Although the budget here wasn't through the roof, it does look much more expensive than most episodes in the series and the cinematic feel evident in Part 1 is also present here. A bit of stock footage is applied near the end but it flows well with the rest.

Again the commentary by Kenneth Johnson is full of inside information and he explains well how they managed to make the "Prometheus" episodes look a lot more expensive than they really were.
