This Is a Great "Sleeper" Episode
kgraovac11 November 2023
Jan brings one of Richie's sculptures into the restaurant, and when Nancy displays it in the lobby, Dot ends up selling it to a tourist for $250. It turns out Richie had borrowed it from an art dealer and it's worth $10k.

A very unoriginal premise --, with someone losing something and needing to get it back - but this is actually a very enjoyable episode and one of the better Season 4 entries. There are not a lot of scattered subplots in this one. Any time the writers keep it simple and focus on two stories, the results are usually good.

Amusing bits are when Frisco shows the girls her "phone book" and dumps a box of cocktail napkins on the bar that all have customer's numbers on them; Jan dealing with the pushy Murray character and removing his toupee, and Sonny's subsequent "I saw her rip the top off a guy's head" line.

The B-story has Amy writing an article about Ginger for the company newsletter. We learn more about Ginger in this episode than we have since she was added to the show.

Ginger hails from Buffalo and she was once humiliated in high school when a pair of gym socks fell out of her blouse earning her the nickname "The Booby-soxer."

Sonny is seen playing the guitar and the harmonica and singing folk music as an homage to Bob Dylan.

There is a great freeze-frame ending with Dot and Jan high-fiving and jumping in the air after they get the sculpture back.
