Beautiful end, though if anything I wish the series lasted longer

It is such a shame that John Thaw died before they could do another series, the ending to this episode was very suggestive of another series at least. That said though, this episode is very well done, coupled with a subplot about Kavanagh considering to become a judge, it the story details the death of a beautiful Hungarian computer science graduate and somebody else gets blamed for the crime. Asides from the story, the production values as consistently the case are wonderful, as is the beautiful music. The writing and direction are also very good, as are the performances of John Thaw, Samantha Bond, Larry Lamb, Nicolas Jones, Nick Dunning and Nicholas LePrevost. Overall, this is a fine episode, but if only the series lasted longer. 9/10 Bethany Cox

A decent episode - not the best - marked by the fact that Thaw died and the series (for which he had a contract to continue) was cancelled. Portrayed the character of Kavanagh well; remaining resolute in the face of a Judgeship offer.

This series built excellently on the platform created by Rumpole of the Baily and laid groundwork for Judge John Deed and Silk.

Kavanagh QC: The final chapter
safenoe9 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I first watched Kavanagh QC when it debuted back in the late 1990s and I watched pretty much the first three seasons and after that for reasons I can't recall, I didn't watch seasons four, five and the concluding instalment. Thankfully, with the help of repeats and social media I was able to finally catch up, after over a quarter-of-a-century! By far Kavanagh QC is one of the finest British legal dramas, alongside Blind Justice. Judge John Deed is okay although its creativity judicially and the judge breaking every ethical rule in the book was a bit too much. Anyway, The End of Law is sadly the end of Kavanagh QC. John Thaw died less then a year after The End of Law debuted, and I understand another series was on the way. One funny scene amidst the drama in The End of Law was Jeremy's fantasy about being head of chambers!
