Part one of two

The premise of this episode and the next is that Foggy thinks the great outdoors needs a flag - the Union flag of course - to set it off.

It takes most of the episode to get to the point though, and by the end of this first part the great outdoors remains unadorned.

We are treated to Compo's fantasy of being stuck on a desert island with Nora though, Sid's description of the problem of "getting to grips" with Ivy, and some slapstick with recalcitrant mules.

Feeling a lorry with an unsecured load

The former Corporal Foggy Dewhurst has a plan and that is to raise the Union flag at top of the Yorkshire hills. This is basically the plot as the trio spend more time bickering more than normal. At one point Foggy is having a rant in the hills by himself as the other two go and hide and is then caught by two ramblers who think he is a madman and trip over the other two as they try to escape.

There are some tender and funny moments in the cafe with Sid as they talk about nude modelling and the female form with Ivy dropping by when things just about to get a little too racy.

The funniest sequences are with the mules that Foggy wants to use to get the flagpole up the hill. A lot of slapstick performed by the stuntmen.
