James "Grizzly" Adams(Dan Haggerty) is repairing his cabin roof with his blood brother Nakoma(Don Shanks) when Mad Jack(Denver Pyle) appears with news that two men are approaching. They turn out to be an army corporal and a civilian named Elmer who are representatives from the department of the Interior doing an animal census to see how federal grants would be given out. After a near fatal accident involving Ben, Adams points out to the corporal that he doesn't trust the current laws of the government regarding the wilderness, which he considers destructive. Meanwhile, Elmer is secretly there to overcome his fear of animals, and thinks meeting up with wolves a good idea... Reasonably interesting episode isn't among the more memorable but still teaches good lessons about nature.
