Two Crooked Bankers
hogwrassler30 March 2021
Crooked bankers Grey and Young have been bilking their depositors by giving phony loans to fictitious applicants and pocketing the money. They murder prospector Cherokee, who was a dupe in their scheme. Bank teller Stan suspects what they are doing. When Stan investigates one of their phony loans for a worthless mine, Grey hits him over the head and he falls down a mine shaft. Fortunately, The Ranger and Tonto find him and he's not seriously hurt. The Ranger then formulates a plan to expose these crooks for what they are before they leave town with all their ill-gotten gains. But this Young is one smart crook and he may be able to turn the tables on the good guys. Gregg Palmer plays Stan. 22 years later, in 1976, he would play "Burly Man" in John Wayne's last movie, "The Shootist." Gregg is the huge bearded shotgun toting ruffian who tries to rob John Wayne in the film's opening scenes. Things don't turn out well for him in that one. Watch this excellent LR episode to see how he finally makes out in it.
