New Elements of the Story
Hitchcoc19 February 2019
Tonto, himself a loner, swears to assist our hero. It's too bad that he couldn't have mastered the first person pronoun, but I suppose there were still those who wanted to show him as a step below our hero (Clayton Moore's character spoke beautifully). Still, Jay Silverheels has ani elegance that makes him quite remarkable. Also, think of a Native American having second billing at this historical period. We are also introduced to Silver who has been attacked a buffalo (does anyone wonder how this relatively slow moving creature could harm such a graceful horse). Silver begins to take a prominent role. We are made aware that the twosome, along with an old friend have rich mine and will never want for money necessary to do their jobs. An, once again, enter the Cavendish gang, running rampant over a town, killing all the important people. The third episode will bring us into the weekly with the Cavendish gang being the objects.

Silver
mitchrmp26 April 2014
This episode picked up where the other let off. The one who led the rangers into an ambush is fighting the Lone Ranger on a cliff. The Lone Ranger meets his beautiful, white horse, Silver. He also decides to use silver bullets.

The fighting is pretty darn cheesy. I can't help but to laugh at fake punching going on. We gave to remember, though, that this is 1949. There are probably not many stunt doubles around who are trained enough to make the fighting look more real.

Interesting enough, you see blood in this episode. I know that a lot of pre-1960's episodes don't show that. Considering this was a show that entertained kids as well as adults, that interesting...

2 dead.

The Team Comes Together

I like the rocky settings that rivet the eye in these first two chapters of the Lone Ranger meets the Cavendish gang. Still, there can't be a LR without his mighty steed Silver. So here we learn how the masked man and his trusty mount meet up over a dead buffalo. It's real bonding at first sight. So now our heroic action team is complete, from Scout to Silver, and white man to Indian. Then too, shouldn't forget the Ranger's lesson on why he casts his bullets in silver metal. There's a moral lesson to this, clearly meant for his many youthful fans who may think he disregards the law. Also, I like the way Doc (Chesebro) injects some mildly humorous notes into the proceedings, a standard feature of matinee shoot-em-ups usually bought off by a wizened sidekick. Anyway, it's a fun episode if not taken too seriously, with flying fists, fast shooting, but no hard riding. So stay tuned for episode three of the LR versus the Cavendish gang.

The Ranger Keeps Fighting
hogwrassler14 October 2020
This is the second of the three episodes which kicked off the series and are a continuing plot line. In this one, the viewer learns how The Ranger came to acquire his great mount, Silver. It's also revealed that he owns a valuable silver mine which can finance his and Tonto's crime fighting adventures. We find out about ex-Ranger Jim Blaine who manages the mine for him. Blaine is the only other person than Tonto who knows his former identity as John Reid. And we learn why the Ranger chooses to use his famous silver bullets and how they are made. A classic episode with another cliffhanger type ending, setting up the third episode.

The Lone Ranger Fights On
Prismark1013 February 2021
The serial format continues. The Lone Ranger fights off one of his pursuers on a cliff. The man falls to his death like a ragdoll.

The Lone Ranger also meets his horse Silver for the first time. He is being attacked by a buffalo before the Lone Ranger saves him.

The Lone Ranger and Tonto are still pursuing the Cavendish gang.

Butch Cavendish is killing several people in the town of Colby and plans to lay the blame of an old ranger called Jim Blaine.

The Lone Ranger takes Blaine in his confidence and reveals his identity to him. Blaine will also work on the concealed silver mine to make the symbolic silver bullets.

A fast moving episode that packs a lot in and introduces more elements of the The Lone Ranger mythology.
