The talk supplies no clues, so Marvin writes it off as a dead end. Several days later there is another robbery. This time there is a murder. The victim, Edwin Reimers, turns out to be a teacher from the same school Marvin had just visited. Another visit to said school is soon arranged. This time Marvin speaks with several of the dead man's fellow instructors.
The one man, Alan Baxter, does not smell right to Marvin and he does a little bit of digging. Needless to say the look into the man's background brings results. Baxter turns out to be a murderer who had just gotten out of prison. He had hitched a ride with a fellow who had just been hired by mail to teach at the boy's school. Baxter, a well-educated type of crook, bumped off the real teacher and took his spot. He took up hitting banks figuring he had the perfect cover. Marvin has other ideas and Baxter is soon collared.
The murder had happened because Reimers had unfortunately, been at the same bank and had recognized Baxter.
A well put together episode with nice work from cast and crew. Also in the cast with a small bit is June Vincent. Film noir fans will recall her from the 1946 film, THE BLACK ANGEL.
