Get a Job, Steve!
Sylviastel1 June 2009
When Steve enjoys unemployment a little too much, Marcy helps get him an interview at his old bank. But after spending time with Peggy and the kids who now refer to him as Uncle Steve at the Zoo, Steve is enjoying his time off and is now becoming more of an animal person concerned about the plight of the animals. Marcy gets angry when she learns that he spends his time at the zoo. It's nice to see Marcy and Al agree that they married deadbeats. When Steve thinks that he's saving a beloved zoo turtle, he discovers that the turtle is an ocean turtle and not a freshwater turtle after he frees him in Lake Michigan. All the while that Marcy stops an armed robbery at the bank and even gets shot.

Who needs a career when you've got the zoo?
BA_Harrison9 November 2022
While Al and Marcy are at work earning a living, Steve (now unemployed) accompanies Peggy, Kelly and Bud to the local zoo. When Marcy discovers that Steve hasn't spent the day job-hunting, she isn't happy. Al and Marcy go to a local bar to sink a few brewskis, where Marcy reveals that she has received a $25000 cheque for foiling a bank robbery and she hasn't told her husband about the windfall.

Season 4 is really shaking things up, with Steve and Marcy's marriage clearly on the rocks. Al and Peggy's relationship has always been strained, but they've become accustomed to it, whereas the Rhoades' acrimony is forcing them apart. Steve's newfound freedom - no longer tied to a boring bank job - has opened his eyes to countless possibilities (except for becoming a cowboy, those positions having been taken by real men): it's only a matter of time before he leaves for pastures new.

Not the funniest episode, and not a classic, but interesting to see the show changing the dynamic of the characters.
