Yes for Claudine Longet....... But don't forget Mako!

I agree with the other reviewer that Tim Conway did a very funny job pretending to be a dashing young Frenchman; but I'm not sure that the writers overplayed Conway's character in this episode, as the reviewer suggested. I absolutely loved everything that Conway did.

But lest we forget: he would not have been half as amusing without having the great Mako playing opposite him. Mako was my absolute favorite Japanese soldier in this series, and he was always coming into contact with the zany crew of PT-73. This episode just may be my favorite Mako performance.

Of course, how could anyone fail to mention the lovely Claudine Longet. I know that I wasn't alone in having a huge crush on her when I first watched this series in the 60s ...... and that crush has existed through the years.

Claudine Longet pushes this rating up the scale.

Claudine Longet makes her second and last appearance as the beautiful Yvette Gerard where she has invited Ensign Parker out to their plantation on a nearby island. Binghamton will not let him go citing that there are Japanese radio jamming stations that need to be addressed. But McHale violates those order and makes Parker believe he is on a special mission to the Gerard's island.

But things go wrong when the Japanese land on the island and set up a jamming station. Parker is going to have to pose as Yvette's husband to avoid arrest.

Tim Conway does a nice job of pretending to be a Frenchman as he plays a slick cigarette smoking and mustache wearing man-about-town. The writers did overplay the buffoon parts of Conway but it did not overshadow the nice performance that Mr Conway was giving. And anytime you have Claudine Longet in the cast you know there is going to be some serious eye-candy. Overall a nice show.
