There goes my immaculate conception theory!

****SPOILERS**** It's when Mike Hammer's, Stacey Keach, photo journalist friend Bobby Indigo, Steven Reisch, was found shot to death in his photo lab that Hammer started to search for evidence that Indigo had for him that eventually lead to his murder. It all had to do with photo that Indigo took at an out-door photo shoot of three sexy models that had a lot more in it then just the usual T&A. Checking out all the leads Hammer is hampered by undercover narc-narcotic-cop Harry Welch, Steven Keats, who in trying to get a promotion almost has both him and Hammer killed.

In fact it was the bumbling Det. Welch who unknowingly gave Hammer the clue to what the mysterious, that he in fact at first overlooked, connection to Indigo's murder photo that was and the reason he was knocked off because of it. ***SPOILER ALERT***It wasn't the models in the picture but the background that lead to a missing hood thought to be dead who was one of the model's Jackie Drake, Eyssa Davalos, long thought to be murdered father the so-called late Jimmy Devita, Paul Lambert. Devita who was to be a star witness back in 1978 at the white slavery and union retirement fraud trail of mobster Vince Rosario, Al Ruscio, disappeared without a trace and was thought by the police to have been knocked off by Rosario's hit-men! Now with proof of him being alive, in the late Bobby Indigo's photo, he's now in danger of being murdered before he can again be forced to stand trail and testify against his former boss Rosario for a second time!

****SPOILERS**** Hammer and Welch slipping on Roserio's yacht where both Devita and his daughter Jackie are being held hostage soon finds out not only who murdered Indigo his former model Joanna Wells, Katherine Moffat, but the person who had the most to gain in keeping DeVito alive his male nurse Paolo Iracci, Nat Christain, who felt that he not Jackie was entitled to the $1,000,000.00 he felt that he had coming to him from Devita's last will & testament. Using the already punch-drunk Harry Welch as a human shield in getting clobbered by Roserio's top goon Tiny Hammer does some punching of his own against the fleeing Paolo who by not watching his step stepped, while walking backwards, off a ledge and ends up taking his last curtain call.
