Pete and Julie pose as a wealthy young couple so the Squad can trap a clever con man (Clu Gulager) after he beats a police rap.
This episode reminds me of the several "sting" episodes done on CHARLIE'S ANGELS except this is lacking the lighter touch and it's all played seriously straight. Not a lot of action or violence in this one, but it's still a very compelling episode thanks to the performances.
Clu Gulager was always a reliable go-to guy in these old crime shows, and we see a pre- "Mother Jefferson" Zara Cully as the gullible old lady who gets the story going. As the long-suffering wife, I immediately recognized Beverlee McKinsey from her days on ANOTHER WORLD playing the definitive "Iris". My grandmother watched that soap opera religiously and my six-year-old self was scarred watching Iris overdose on pills in a suicide attempt.
Both Pete and Julie look terrific when they first appear as the rich couple - her in a flattering red two-piece ensemble and him in a sharp white suit. John Travolta eat yer heart out!
