Rose Marie back again
kevinolzak4 January 2014
"Monkee Mother" features the return of Rose Marie, previously seen in "Monkees in a Ghost Town," and the final appearance of Henry Corden's landlord Babbit, who informs the group he's bringing in a new tenant, a widow who regards the quartet as boarders, then grows to become overly maternal in her attentions. In order to get their home back, The Monkees decide to groom the moving man as marriage material, not an easy task due to her incessant need to chatter. Pretty blonde Alexandra Hay, whom I remember from 1968's "How Sweet It Is!" makes her debut as Clarisse, an English girl who 'doesn't care' for Davy (she died in 1993). Carole King's sublime "Sometime in the Morning" has its second airing, soft focus photography emphasizing the romantic imagery; making its debut is Neil Diamond's "Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow)," produced by Jeff Barry on the same day as "I'm a Believer" (Oct 15 1966). Broadcast no. 27 (Mar 20 1967), "Monkee Mother" was 29th in production, filmed Jan 17-19.
