Not for the first time in the series, there is a quiet spirituality driving some events. A young Giancarlo Esposito is the angry quadriplegic drug dealer who asks god for guidance in how to proceed. Simone, just being himself connects with him and elicits the information he needs. At the end of the episode Russel asks how he moved the guy, and he answers he doesn't know for sure. Simone does not even realize he is the instrument of grace for this man, even as he lays in a Christ like pose. Very moving story and far more subtle than one expects from a police procedural, even one as outstanding as NYPD Blue.

Warning: Spoilers
A woman is shot and killed on a rooftop while her friend survives a shot to the head. This all leads back to a personal vendetta among drug dealers and their leader, a paraplegic. There are layers here, including the hostility of the victim and the despicable nature of the participants. The second weird case involves the shooting of a man in a medical facility and the involvement of a woman who tried to break off an affair. We also learn that Andy has prostate cancer and is avoiding the test that will determine its severity. He is vicious toward his doctor who finally calls Sylvia and explains things to her.
