Stephanie and Michael come back from a cruise. Stephanie is going to be a mother and has no clue what that means. The two continue to believe that whatever happens (whatever that is) someone else will take care of the baby. They ask Dick and Joanna if they will change the diapers, feed it, look after it, send it to college when it's old enough. It's a funny episode but rather sad too, when one considers how inept they are. Of course, if things were really like this, Steph's parents would throw enough money into the pot to take care of the kid his or her whole life. There is a great scene where Dick, who, of course, has never had children, tells a story of how he raised a guppy who was totally dependent on him. Dick is, in his own way, as inept as the two soon to be parents. It does have a bit of nice ending.

Season 8 off to an awful start

I might be alone on this, but I can only take so much of the Michael/Stephanie characters. A little goes a long way with them, and when it's a full episode of them crying about how they aren't prepared to be parents, enduring ridiculous pregnancy jokes at the mall and so on, this is just a chore to get through. I mean, Michael bursting into tears can be funny, but it's gone on a little too long already. The relationship between these two seems like it's been troubled throughout the last few years (Michael calling off the engagement just because he's not making a ton of money as a television producer anymore, and then taking up jobs as a shoe salesman and a grocery store clerk just seemed too ridiculous, even for a sitcom.) Maybe I'm just reading into it too much.

Stephanie is pregnant after returning with Michael from a six month honeymoon.
A great start to the final season. Michael and Stephanie don't realize what is in store when the baby is born. There are hilarious scenes at the mall where Stephanie meets a new mother who tells her of stretch marks and a little kid who thinks she looks like Miss Piggy. Michael has some funny crying scenes when Dick and Joanna tell them they will not raise the child for them.
