Welcome Back

I'm so excited. Up til now I had only been able to see the first two seasons. While quite funny, the show really takes off at this point. The Loudons have been to Europe, and when they get back, Kirk and Cindy have left and asked Dick to sell the Minuteman. We have Bob''s TV show promoted. Ray Walston comes in and buys the Cafe. The deal falls apart because of seller's remorse (you can see what I'm talking about when you watch it). Peter Scolari, who is sensational as Michael, is the producer with no scruples, and he gets Dick to do a promo for the new season. There are so many great bits. George, trying to repair things in the cafe, the projection screen behind Dick as he does the promo, etc. I loved this show when it was first on and am so excited to see these episodes again.

Kirk leaves town

Warning: Spoilers
Dick is stuck with selling the Minute Man Cafe after Kirk and Cindy move away.

Everything is in place for the remainder of the series run with Michael as the new regular. Ray Walston is funny in a guest role as a prospective buyer of the cafe. Best scene is Michael having Dick do a misleading promo for his talk show. The new owners of the Minute Man Cafe are Larry, Darryl and Darryl and Dick does the moon walk at the end!

Good Riddance Kirk

The worst, most annoying character in sit-com history, Kirk Devane, played by Steven Kampmann, is gone, replaced entirely by a character that might have influenced Kelsey Grammer's Frasier on Cheers...

Former Bosom Buddies actor Peter Scolari plays the shallow yuppie TV producer, and they made sure he was shallow (to conflict with Dick) yet friendly, affable, and the love interest of Julia Duffy, who was a fan-favorite at this point...

No one remembers that Duffy was not an original character, the replica of cousin Jennifer Holmes, who was actually much cuter and a comparably humble rich girl to Duffy's cliche society debutante...

So this is the beginning of the rest of the series... the one most people remember, with a story involving Ray Walston as the new owner of Kirk's cafe... for this episode, anyway, involving a possible scam... with a twist.
