Stan's after a colour TV.
Sleepin_Dragon19 October 2022
Stan has decided to use his Christmas money towards buying a new colour set, to have enough he needs to sell the old, much used black and white set, it just so happens that The Inspector is in need.

They are definitely getting a bit bolder and wilder with the plotlines, poor Blakey once again suffers physical pain at the hands of Stan and Jack, the writing team definitely wanted to inflict more and more pain on him.

It's a very funny episode, with plenty of funny scenes, it's funny to think at that time that plenty of people still had black and white sets.

Favourite scene by far had to be Stan, Jack and Arthur on Blakey's bed watching the football, the look on his face as his evening gets worse and worse is priceless.

8/10.

The set up!

Warning: Spoilers
Christmas is coming up and the Butler family are looking forward to getting a new colour television set with Stan's Christmas bonus, however the money they will get in trade for the old set is not sufficient to make up the first payment as it is not working properly.

Stan and Jack tamper with the voltage on the set to get it working long enough to sell it down the depot. Blakey is the mug who buys the set ( as one would expect ). The set explodes the moment he switches it on, resulting in him being injured to the point of being bedridden...

Hilarious episode with some great physical comedy, though you do have to wonder why Blakey would be gullible enough to buy the TV set considering how many other times previously he has come a cropper from one of Stan and Jack's dubious sales schemes. Remember, for example, when he bought Arthur's clapped out motorbike in 'The Squeeze'? You also have to wonder too how Stan and Jack have managed to this stage to avoid being sacked. Aside from that, good stuff!

Funniest bit - whilst watching the football at Blakey's house, Stan, Jack and Arthur are so elated when a goal is scored they start jumping up and down with joy, forgetting they still have beer bottles in their hand. Poor Blakey ends up drenched in beer!

Second funniest bit - Mrs. Butler remarking on how bad the picture is on their black and white television set. ''In the commercials, you can't tell which sheets are washed and which are dirty. They look just the same after as before!'' she says!
